I Had To Travel 1,000 Miles To See An Eagle In The Wild

I don't know about you, but I have never seen an eagle in the wild until recently. I've seen pictures and videos of the beautiful bird but never in person. On a recent vacation to Alaska, from a cruise ship I was able to get a video using a zoom feature.

The video starts as we aproach a small island and from a great distance an eagle is spotted in a tree with a nest. The eagle shot is a little fuzzy because of the distance, but it still shows the eagle in the tree over the nest.

I took an Alaska cruise and it was wonderful.  I saw the eagles in the wild and we saw lots of great wild life.

Wow Tom that is a stunning bird!  I'd love to see one in the wild myself!  And maybe I am crazy or it's too early in the morning...but I kept thinkng the island looked like a turtle!

Tom, beautiful video, that eagle has its own little island!  We have eagles here as well and especially in the spring we see them fly high over our area.  They always are a majestic sight to see!

We have eagles here too, Tom. (I live about 15 miles south of Silvia) and we do see them flying about. Not as often as we see the hawks but it's is great to see them too. Great video.

 I grew up in Alaska and never got over the excitement of seeing Eagles - even though they were everywhere. (I imagine your cruise went through Juneau - that's where I spent most of my childhood!)

 Let me know if you cruise north again, my son owns a guide business in Juneau - I'll hook you up to a good deal. :)

Saw one in flight but was empty handed, beautiful to see Silvia.
