Changing your local board can be a pain....I know since I am in the process of doing just that.
Years ago I belonged to the Punta Gorda Board of Realtors. When I moved back up to Pinellas County, I joined the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors simply because they used the same MLS as I had down in Punta Gorda.
Since then the Pinellas Realtor Organization made the switch and now also uses the Mid-Florida Regional MLS. So it only made sense for me to make the change to my local board....less travel time when I need something (I personally hate dealing with the traffic over in Tampa) and I don't have to pay extra when I attend a local class at the Pinellas Board.
The process does put me in limbo for 48 hours while the two boards make the change........48 hours without the MLS, 48 hours without a lockbox key or use of my lockboxes.
Luckily, I have explained this to clients and everybody understands....people are patient when they get an explanation. BUT it leads to the question, WHY do I even have to do this? Wouldn't it just make more sense for each state to have a state-wide board and a state-wide MLS so that problems like this would not take place?
It is food for thought.............I think it just makes good sense. Comments????????
