I just returned from our annual convention at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs Colorado. Though EXIT throws a world class event, what I really want to get across in the importance of attending these events with the companies you work for. I could have come up with a million reason why I could not attend this year from the money and time it takes to attend, to I have already been to 3 others before with EXIT and even though they were all outstanding events did I really need to go to one more? After deciding to to "FIT IT IN THE SCHEDULE" once again I was blown away from all I learned and the referals I received. By the time of the Gala Ball on Saturday night was held I already had 3 relocation buyers and possible third in March. By the time I returned to the office today I have 3 appointments this week to show and one listing appointment, all from contacts I met at the convention. And just by attending I had a chance to win $100,000 cash from EXIT. No I did not win the $100,000 from EXIT but may have won much more in long term realtionships with felow agents from Florida to California. The convention gave me the opportunity to speak one on one with other brokers - I have decided to not use that term - I prefer "Richer" and what was working for them in their areas across the country. It also was a great time to re-energize and start focusing on 2008. The speakers that spoke at the convention gave some great insight into the future in the business and dispelled the doom and gloom we hear everyday on the news.
Take the opportunity when you company has their annual convention to attend. You might be surprised of what you can learn. I thought we would go to the EXIT Convention have a few laughs, drop a few bucks and get some good food. What we got was more than $15,000 in referals, many new "Friends" and some of the best information on the industry I have seen in years. And oh ya, the food was fantastic!
