One of the things I find myself wishing for the most these days is time - more time, lots more time....
I wake up every morning and go through a mental checklist of what I would like to accomplish for the day. I hop out of bed, enthusiastic and ready to tackle the list. Then, it seems that my life then switches into warp speed and suddenly it is 3PM and I have another 8 hours or more of work to get through.
If I were to have an extra three hours a week, I would love it and I would treasure those hours. There is one thing that immediately comes to mind when I think of what I would do with these "bonus" hours...
I would enlist to be a volunteer at Southwest Wildlife. Southwest Wildlife is an amazing non-profit that rehabilitates and cares for desert animals who have been injured, abandoned or removed from residential areas. They care for bears, foxes, coyotes, javelinas, bobcats, mountain lions, all kinds of desert animals and even beavers! I love getting their e-newsletter as they always profile some of their "residents" and what they are up to.
The goal at Southwest Wildlife is to get these animals rehabilitated and back into the wild. However, in some cases, the animals are unable to be released and they become permanent residents at the facility. These "full-timers" then become part of the very rich educational component Southwest Wildlife offers.
Yes, if I could have a bonus of three hours a week, I would be over at Southwest Wildlife helping out as much as possible and giving back to these animals that make Scottsdale and the Sonoran Desert so unique.
