Multimedia: Commercials and Recruiting

Yesterday I read a post by Barry Hurd that discussed the use of media as a recruiting tool for companies and it got me thinking (always a dangerous situation) how could Barnett Associates use media effectively.

A little over a week ago I decided to create a YouTube account for our company to see what could be done with media as a form of advertising. Thoughts of a commercial have been running through my head but nothing has really developed yet.

The use of media to "get the word" out is nothing new in TV land but it seems that it is fairly new when applied to the internet. The recruiting video was really well done and was about a company call Simply Hired and why people love to work for them. It shared company culture, technology in the work place and testimonials from people in the office. I was totally impressed and the video was definitely effective because by the end of it I wanted to go work for them.

As a small company that is developing it will be fun and cool to see what I can come up with and how the message can get out. It's possible to place a YouTube video on an ActiveRain profile page so why not give it a shot and see what I can come up with.

Back in college, my marketing team put together a short commercial for a core project which we used The North Face as our company. It was fun and the commercial came out great but replicating the same results are going to be tough.

Where to start? Well, as I write the first thing I should probably do is create a outline that details the topics that are to be address and from their work on the exact script that will be filmed. The next item would to determine where the footage should be taken, more than likely in the office. After that the footage has to be taken over and over and over again until it comes out just right.

I'll be getting my helmet camera soon for skiing so I can use that to shoot the footage and windows movie maker to do my editing. There are probably better stuff out there but for the time being I'll totally have to make due.

Very cool. Can't wait to see the "helmet cam" ad! Just do it!

You will be hard pressed to make an interesting video about Marysville. LoL.

I think you could make an awesome version of "Real Estate Agents of the Corn" and run around the corn mazes in a chaotic fashion. ;)

All kidding aside, there are some pretty interesting things people can do to tie together real estate and local viewers. I'm sure there are some great events around here that people buying homes just are not aware of.

Jay, I totally missed your comment in the hord of others flooding my inbox...my bad!! I'll get that helment cam on and do an extreme version of Marysville :)

Barry, your comment is too funny...how does one make marysville interesting enough to make a movie out of? The stuff I did when I was younger was worth a movie but not very could for encouraging home sales but might bo good for traffic :P Not going to try that stuff again...but your corn maze idea it quite intriguiing to say the least. A short I did a few days ago is still recieving decent attention and something similiar could be duplicated.

Barnett Associates Presents: Marysville through the eyes of a insane skier with no snow....whatcha think? Might need some work...I have an outline but is so dry and boring I would give it a thumbs down so far but only time will tell.
