Places to go, people to see... Part (I)

Part of the flair of Ulster County, and especially of Marbletown, NY, are the small town locales and the quirky little places that make life around here so much fun. My office is on Route 209 just outside the town center of Stone Ridge. I'm there most of the day usually and sometimes into the evening hours. I live only 7 minutes away so I spend a lot of time around. There are some very nice places to go to in just minutes of time. Here are some of them - selection in no particular order and completely subjective and biased. For lunch I go across the street to Jack & Luna's. Their soups and pannini sandwiches are amazing. Try a tomato basil bisque soup and a roast beef pannini (with caramelized onions and horse radish sauce). You won't be disappointed. They also have excellent humus, salads and other delicious items on their menu. If you want baked goods, unique gifts and the best cappuccino in town, go to The New York Store in the center of High Falls. The Egg's Nest, a bit further down the road, not only has excellent food - Mexican and American cuisine - but also a very nice atmosphere. Basically, the whole restaurant is one gigantic collage of artfully assembled paintings and scurille items. Lots of fun. Breakfast is great at the High Falls Cafe, right across from the Egg's Nest. This is just the beginning, so stay tuned for more...

I love the Stone Ridge area there are many lovely stone houses.  I love small towns especially when the locales are friendly because I tend to ask many questions about the history of a place.  Quirky works for me.
