The facility is very spacious, and the food was plentiful and delicious. Thank you

Pastor Stan Van Den Berg for offering us this great place to hold our weekly

Rotary meetings till June.

Speaker: Tom Gentile, CPA

Tom a CPA with 25 years experience in Federal Tax Law gave us his annual update on changes that

are coming in the next year. He opened by telling us that he has six horses and cleaning up after the horses is not unlike the work he does on a day to day basis.

This being an election year he broke down the tax plans of all the candidates without too much spin.

His gut feeling is that most people around the country won't focus too much on the tax issue, however, Orange County tends to be more fiscally conservative and this may be a factor here.

He seems to feel that the state of the economy will be the biggest factor in the outcome of the elections. He touched briefly on the Healthcare Bill that will be coming before the Supreme Court this year. The Federal Government has relied on the Commerce Clause of the Constitution to justify

the mandate, but because the fine that would be imposed is actually an excise tax, the Tax Clause may come into play. It could get interesting. Tom went on to discuss some of the new laws that may impact us, but in most cases the old laws have been extended into 2013.

Next Week: California Highway Patrol Foundation.
