Thank You, For Accepting Me
I really loved this post....by a relative new-comer. It makes the point that when we can create an environment here where new bloggers can feel confident to participate. Something we can all remember in our rush to comment. Think about how much better our entire Active Rain Community will be if we all think about this.
If you agree....go to the original post and suggest, like I did. I really liked this.
I am participating in the BIG Jumpstart Back to Basics Blog Challenge . There is a long list of 'assignments' to be completed in order to receive the 3000 bonus points. Yesterday, I talked about AR's Weltanschauung and today I took a look at AR's Community Guidelines. Actually, I had never looked at them before. So this competition is doing a great job, by making me actually read the guidelines!
All of the rules are helping to provide a safe and comfortable community environment here on AR. The guidelines that appeal to me the most are the these:
- Do not personally attack another person.
- Do not slander another person.
- We encourage free speech and defend everyone's right to express unpopular points of view. But we don't permit hate speech, which contains slurs, or the use of stereotypes intended to attack or demean a particular gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or nationality.
- There is zero tolerance for predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, invading privacy, or the revealing of other members' personal information. Anyone caught doing these things may be permanently banned from ActiveRain.
This gives me the confidence to say what I think (in an appropriate way), how I feel and that I am not being attacked for any of my opinions. At the same time, what would ugly comments or blog posts say about YOU and YOUR character? "Do not judge, or you too will be judged." If you put it out on the web - it will stay there. Forever!
That said let me express to you all!
- I treasure the AR members who support me.
- I value the AR members that honor me with their comments.
- I appreciate the AR members that introduce me to new concepts and new ideas.
- I thank the AR members for taking the time to get to know me.
- I am excited to have a community where I can exchange opinions and I hope that eventually I can contribute as well. Afterall: Our heads are round so that thoughts can change direction. - Francis Picabia, painter and poet (1879-1953)
- I am touched by the stories you share and letting me get a glimpse of your life.
- I am encouraged to continue on the (career) path I am on, and to see how many others are walking along with me.
Can you continue the list?
