Police name pedestrian killed in Daytona Beach

A pedestrian has died as a result of a Thursday night traffic crash in Daytona Beach, police said.

The victim has been identified as Ralph Albert, a 50-year-old transient, Daytona Beach police spokesman Jimmie Flynt said.

Albert was seriously injured when he was hit in the 800 block of N. Nova Road and later died at Halifax Health Medical Center, Flynt said.

A car driven by Sandra Dangelo of Daytona Beach was southbound on Nova Road just before 7:30 p.m. when the pedestrian walked into the roadway about 100 feet south of the intersection with Brentwood Drive, Flynt said.

A witness told officers they saw the man staggering along the west side of Nova Road just before the accident, Flynt said.

The driver is not expected to be charged, he said.
