Ok, So We had Our Office Party Early.

By
Real Estate Agent with McCall Realty

Nancy Fennel, Jon Kolb and Nancy's better half.

We don't normally go on and on about our brokerage, but it's a really good one. We are in fact the largest in terms of sales in production in the area... by far. So there, and we might not say that again on our blog for another year.

That's Nancy Fennel, one of our owners in center frame, who's a true renaissance woman. Perhaps the only person around that I can talk to about marketing.

She's got her arm around our manager, Jon Kolb. A gentle manager with a steel trap legal mind about real estate.

And, not without forethought for how this shot was taken, that's Nancy's better half, Harvey  on the left. And get this, he's an owner, with a CFO background who knows how to sell. How cool is that?

John Peel, Penny Echan and Richard Bolen.

This is John Peel, Penny Echan and me, tubbo. I guess one could call us the kitchen help,  all others did.

John cooked prime rib, I made the au jus, and it was really good. Right up there with Lawry's Prime Rib quality. We got lucky and hit it on the nose.

Penny made roasted pork loin with plum sauce. Was excellent.

There were about 50 people there, just our office and most of our owners. In total there are 15 offices and a little less than 400 agents.

Though we are competititors, one one sense of the word, it doesn't feel like it most all of the time. We get along, and that does make it fun... and we think in the best interest of the public as well.

What's even more cool is that's the way Nancy runs the whole company. There is a good Dickson vibe at the agent level that's found in all our various locations.

John Peel, Elizabeth and Gary Bolen.

John Peel, again, and Elizabeth (she's Janie to us), Gary's wife, and Gary, here caught in mid joke. Was Peel carrying on in his North Carolina drawl.

Janie made chicken cordon bleu, which was also excellent.

Gary did all the carving, which he's quite good at, having learned from Dad.

It's great having a partner, which really does free me up somewhat from the day in and day out to work on our blogs.

Gary and I also have a new music project coming up, which we hope will be a wonderful thing.

Like a blog post starts out with a blank screen, the music starts out that way to, and then out of nothing a song and melody comes. We really like that creative process.

Linda McCall and Sue McCall.

This is Linda McCall and Sue McCall. Our former owner, Thane McCall, is lucky to have Linda, and we tell him so. Sue is his sister.

Thane made his mark here with McCall Realty, before it merged with Dickson, which led market share in South Lake Tahoe significantly for more than 20 years.

Thane has our music library on his iPod, and both he and Linda came to the last Who show with us. They sat right in front of us, and Nancy and Harvey sat next to us. That one was a lot of fun.

Both Linda and Sue have children that excell in school and are schoomates with our son, Olivier.

 Teri Zager and Barbara Poet.

Teri Zager and Barbara Poet... in post dessert pose.  Teri's a mortgage broker and is the wife of one of our top agents, Craig.

Barbara is Bob Poet's boss, and a good one at that. Their son Robbie is a good friend to Olivier.

There must have been 20 or so side dishes at this party, and everything I tasted was excellent. There was a joke going about that we should be a catering company, rather than the top agency in N. Nevada.

We left early, as Maxene and I most always do, and there were about 8 folks left late who got the cab ride home.

A good time was had by all, so much so that Nancy thinks we should do this every quarter... not that we need the morale boost, but because the food was so good.

Dan Rider takes on a Dubya Dog.

This is Dan Rider, one of our owners, and here appeasing me for a joke we did that he knew about beforehand. Here's the setup:

With all of the great food at this party, it came to me that we might take our culinary skills too seriously. So to prevent that, we came up with Dubya Dogs, the hors d'oeuvres from hell.

You know those ridiculous colored, plastic swords with the tuft of cellophane tinsel at the top. Well get one of those, and skewer it with grilled vienna sausage, and seared spam... with a cube of velveeta cheese in between. There you have it, The Dubya Dog.

A good sport, Dan also runs and teaches Dickson University, our education department for training new agents... when we're aggressively recruiting, which we are not now. Dan also teaches much of our agent level courses throughout the Dickson area, many of which qualify for state continuing ed courses.

Dubya Dogs????  I have to say they don't sound too appealing!

Looks like you all had a great time, and the food sounds simply delicious!  Thanks for sharing all these great pictures - isn't it nice when you work in an office or for a company where everyone gets along?  I work in an office like that, and what a huge difference that makes.

Happy Holidays!
Ann
