It's Bettag's fault

After some gentle prodding by our own Larry Bettag, about the brand of cigars I like to smoke, I went out and purchased a small handful of the one's he recommended. He thought that the cigars I was buying were like smoking Pixie Sticks, weenie, little "girly" sticks...

So, not one to give in to peer pressure (who says Bettag is one of my peers... c'mon, who said that?)... I bought a few and since yesterday was such a beautiful day (in the high 60's here in Chicagoland in March)... I sat out in my backyard, plopped into my hammock, and allowed myself to enjoy one of the La Gloria Cubana's that he'd recommended.

Good choice, Bettag, good choice. I have to admit, it was a lovely smoke, and I thoroughly enjoyed it from stem to stern. (Although La Gloria is significantly more expensive than the brands I was smokin'... it's like taking a ten-dollar bill and lighting it on fire! Allright, not quite that bad, but close!)

The only thing that was missing was a small snifter of Cognac.

Hi Alan - I have very expensive taste when it comes to Cognac - when I was in college, a girlfriend's father gave me a snifter of 40 year old stuff and my life has never been the same - but I'll smoke just about any cigar and be happy - even Rum Crooks! We're going to Mexico next weekend, and I know the place we're staying stocks Cubans, so I will be stepping up for a few days.

Yep, sounds like cognac is calling your name. I grew up near Cuba (LOL) and it was an experience when my dad's friends brought him boxes. What a pleasant memory is the smell of a cigar.

Larry - wow... serious delayed reaction there, Bettag. I wrote this post March of last year. That doesn't make the LaGloria any less Glorious.... just sayin'. So when are we gettin' together to do some damage to a few cubana's, and a bottle of armagnac??
