MAJORITY RULES IN SUN CITY WEST ARIZONA!

Sun City West residents got business taken care of today. Of 27,500 eligible voters, 15,552 residents made their voice heard. It was the largest election participation in the history of Sun City West. Business as Usual in Sun City West

For more than four weeks, Sun City West homeowners showed up at the main recreation center on RH Johnson Blvd with lines out the door and down the sidewalk almost every day, all day long. Residents wanted the board of directors to hear their voice and it was heard loud and clear.

Voters showed up and voiced their opinions; three proposed bylaws were defeated. The first bylaw was a 2% cap on membership dues, defeated 12,424 to 2,946. The second bylaw proposed making bowling, recreation and golf self-supporting was defeated 13,351 to 2,023. The third proposed bylaw required voter approval for capital improvements more than $100,000 was defeated 12,869 to 2,601.

According to the Arizona Republic, “Many golfers and non-golfers alike said that developer Del E. Webb founded the system where all residents pay for all activities and then use what they want.” People are drawn to the Del Webb age restricted 55+ community of Sun City West for its plethora of activities: bowling, tennis, pickle ball, four recreation centers, numerous swimming pools, four fitness centers, and wood working, metal and glass shops. Sun City West residents enjoy the use of its seven golf courses, each with varying levels of play.

As a Sun City West homeowner, I’m happy that the system is working and the majority rules! Golf is here to stay and so are all of the other activities.

Leolinda... it sounds like there is some major participation from these folks... and that's the way it should be.

OK... I need to ask.  Just what IS "Pickle Ball ?"  Inquiring minds want to know.
