My Favorite Hawaii Kai Marina Front Townhome Communities: Kaimala Marina
Located on Lunalilo Home Road, next to the Esplanade, townhomes here vary in size and configuration. Of the 90 townhomes, there are 1-bedroom/1-bath units 697 square feet in size with a 285 square foot lanai; 2-bedroom/2-bath units that are 880 square feet in size plus a 620 square foot lanai; 3-bedroom/2.5-bath units of 1,2801 to 1,323 square feet plus a 324 to 364 square foot lanais; 3-bedroom/3-bath units of 1,267 square feet plus an 803 square foot lanai; and 4-bedroom/3-bath units of 1,555 square feet plus a 481 square foot lanai.
Built in 1968, about half of the units are marina front, with great views and huge lanais on the marina side. Some units face the setting sun, so heat in the afternoon can be an issue, unless shading and fans or air conditioning is used. Although original units look dated, many owners have done an excellent job with remodeling and upgrading. Amenities include a community pool, recreation deck, barbecue rea, clubhouse and resident manager.
You can keep a boat here, but instead of a private dock in front of your unit, it s a larger, shared dock where you pay moorage. End units on the water are the most desirable. Many believe this may be the best valued marina frontage in Hawaii Kai.
