Things to do in Franklin, NC | Appalachian & Bartram Trails
Franklin, NC has a lot to offer being its such a small little town nestled in the Mountains of the Nantahala National Forest. One of our most popular things to do in Franklin, NC is to hike the mountain trails. There is a abundant places around here from easy hike's to very strenous hikes. Two of the most well known are Appalachian and Bartram Trails. Franklin is an official Appalachian Trail friendly destination.
As the Appalachian Trail was explicitly designed to be hiked, it includes resources to facilitate hikers. Some are common to trails throughout North America, while some are unique to the Appalachian Trail.The trail is much more frequently hiked south to north (i.e. Georgia to Maine) than vice versa. Hikers typically begin in March or April and finish in late summer or early to late fall of that particular year (or, in the case of southbound hikers, June to March).

The famous Brtram Trail In North Carolina meanders 78.4 miles near the mountainous towns of Franklin, Highlands, Andrews, Robbinsville, and Nantahala. It includes 5,385 feet Wayah Bald, which is the highest point on the trail. There is an optional 9 miles canoe section on the Little Tennessee River.
