About ten minutes north of Frankford you will find the idyllic little town of Glen Ross in Hastings County. It's a mixed community of year round homes and cottages. It's a very peaceful setting, and boats going up and down the Trent Severn waterway will be stopping here at lock # 7 on the Trent Severn waterway, so there's always a bit of activity here.
If you happen to be driving by in the summer you might notice people fishing off the large bridge. I'm not a fisherman, but I have been told that it's a really good stretch of water to catch some big ones. Sometimes I will stop and talk to the people, and quite often they will be from Toronto, so Glen Ross isn't just a local secret.
Many people who own properties here are weekend cottagers who come and enjoy the peaceful and quiet nature of the town. Other than a variety store, there are no retail outlets, so the community has a relaxed atmosphere, yet it's only minutes away from Stirling to the east and Frankford to the south.
The Hastings Heritage Trail, a 156 km mixed used trail that ends in Lake St. Peter Provincial Park in the Hastings Highlands starts right here in Glen Ross. Snowmobilers, dog sledders, ATV enthusiasts, hikers, horseback riders and cyclists can all make use of this former CN rail line.
Cottages and homes are very reasonably priced in this area when you compare them with other recreational areas in the province. It's still possible to buy a nice waterfront cottage for under $200,000 when they become available.
If you're Thinking of buying a well priced home or cottage in Glen Ross, just give me a call, I may just be able to find one that's right for you.
