Female agents beware - You (and your cell phone) are a target

I heard some disturbing news that I need to share for safety's sake.  In the news there was a report that cell phone theft is on the rise, but what is disturbing is the manner in which they are being stolen.

cell phoneCell phones are being stolen from people while they are walking down the street talking or texting on the phone!  The phone is stolen directly out of their hands!  Even worse, is it seems women are being targeted far more than men.  As if that wasn’t enough, the news report stated that many of the thefts were violent and involved striking or even beating up the victim in order to steal the phone.

Given that Agents rely on technology so much and are often wrapped up in business as they make their way around town, I wanted to put the word out to warn Agents, especially women.

Think about it – As you are walking down the street with that phone stuck to the side of your head you are walking down the street with several hundred dollars worth of technology in plain site while you are not paying attention to your surroundings.

Be aware and be safe.  Make sure to tell others also.

Mark - This is a great warning for everyone to put their phones away and to be aware of their surroundings at all times.  Using the cell phone makes both men and women easy targets for a crime of opportunity.  Great post!!!

Mark - way before your time, a Vallejo landlord/real estate agent was assaulted while collecting rent and was in a coma for an extended period of time.....meeting the unknown PUBLIC is dangerous for all of us.

Mark I heard something about this going on awhile back in the bigger cities.  Thanks for a reminder we all need to heed.
