Oh my, what did I walk into!!!
Over the last few months I have been sorting through closets, cabinets and boxes and decided it was time to sell some of my collectibles. Some of them are antiques and I am sure that I wouldn't get nearly their value if I tried to sell at a yard sale or on Craigslist. I did a quick Google search and found a company in the Atlanta area that took items on consignment.
Over the last 20 years, I have attended many auctions and have bought some incredible pieces and have even made money on a few. I am familiar with the procedures, and most of the policies of the auctions. The auction was scheduled to start at 11 a.m. I left myself plenty of time, and planned to arrive by 9:30 a.m. I walked into a FULL HOUSE! There was not a seat left in the building and people began standing along the walls waiting for the auction to start.
I thought I would check it out before I took the items in for appraisal and consignment and as it turns out, they were having an auction today. What I didn't know is that this particular auction house is featured on the Discovery Channel Auction Kings.
As the auction began, the auctioneer asked to questions:
- How many were there for the first time? More than half of the room raised their hands
- How many were there from out of state? About a third raised their hands
There were many interesting items sold today including a letter from Ulysses S. Grant, guitars signed by Johnny Cash and Jimmy Buffet, some great antique furniture and a full wall set of the FAB 4!
Here are some photos I took, enjoy.....
So if you are in Atlanta, you might want to check it out.
