Orchard Lake Estates (map) is located on FM 1464 near Old Richmond Road. The back side joins Cullinan Park, a nature conservancy. There is a large lake in the center of this gated community which joins the lake in Cullinan. The website has some cool pictures. Orchard Lake Estates is less than 30 minutes from downtown. There is a community swimming pool and several nicely landscaped areas. Homes were built from 2001 to 2006 and range in value from $174,000 to $365,000 with an average of $255,000 and 3222 sq.ft. 

Schools and Colleges

Public Schools are provided by Fort Bend Ind. School District. Oyster Creek Elemenary School is off of nearby West Airport. Garcia Middle School joins the community and Austin High School is nearby on FM 1464.

Private schools are available. St. Laurance Catholic School on Sweetwater in Sugar Land has pre-K through 8th grade. Fort Bend Christian (Baptist) Academy is located on 7th Street in Sugar Land with pre-K through High School. Calvary Episcopal School on FM 762 in Richmond has pre-K through High School. Faith Lutheran School and Preschool, in Sugar Land pre-K through 5 th. Honor Roll School, Sweetwater Blvd, Sugar Land 2 year old through 8th grade.

A Wharton County Junior College trade school is located in Richmond. WCJC and the University of Houston have a joint campus closeby on west side of Sugar Land in Telfair.

Sports and Entertainment

Sugar Land Little League is available. Greater Sugarland Select Baseball (Nations) is available. FFPS Soccer (Fun Fair Positive Soccer) league is available for children. Select volleyball is available in the Eclipse league. Houston Southwest Heat Volleyball is available in Sugar Land. Slaters sportsplex in Pecan Grove features volleyball and basketball training and competition.

A YMCA sports complex is located in nearby Richmond. Lifetime fitness has a huge complex on SH 6 between 90 and 59.

AMC has 24 theaters in Sugar Land near the Mall. Cinemark has a 12 theater venue at FM 762 and US 59. A new theater complex is being built on 99 near Long Meadow Farms. Sugar Land has a minor league baseball team, The Skeeters. Constellation Field is located near alt. US 90 and SH 6. Come embrace our mosquito population. George Ranch Historical Park is interesting. Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land is in the middle of Telfair. A large library, George Memorial has lots of internet connections also.

Shopping.

Yes you are near the western edge of Houston, but there is plenty of shopping close by. There is a large shopping center at the Grand Parkway 99 and US 59 with an HEB supermarket. There is a Kroger supermarket near alt US 90 and 99 just south of FM 1464. This area of Telfair is developing into many shops and restaurants. Another large shopping center with a Kroger supermarket is located at US 59 and FM 762 in the edge of Rosenberg. A Kroger supermarket is located where Westhiemer joins the Westpark tollway and FM 1464. Numerous shops and restaurants are to be found along State Highway 6 First Colony Mall has a huge complex of shops and restaurants on US 59 between Sweetwater and SH 6. Additonally there are numerous shops and restaurants outside of the mall near the new "downtown" Sugar Land.
