The Day Ahead:New Home Sales
A jump in prices appears to be holding down new home sales which slipped 0.3 percent in August to a 373,000 annual rate. The curve for sales has flattened a bit the last couple of months but the longer term trend is still upward. Regional data are mixed showing monthly gains for three of the four regions but a third monthly decline for the South which is by far the largest region. A fall-off in weekly oil imports more than offset a small rise in domestic production to make for a moderate 2.4 million barrel draw in oil inventories during the September 21 week. Commercial oil inventories stand at 365.2 million barrels, which is still extremely heavy and above the historical upper limit.
Dow is trading at 13,433 -13.03, the 10 yr bond is at 1.63% from 1.72% Yesterday, . Currently mortgages are slightly better from Yesterday
