Who's Buying Land in St Johns County?
Builder D. R. Horton just paid $8 million for 200 lots in the community of Murabella in St. Johns County, according to an article by the Jacksonville Business Journal. This comes on the heels of the unofficial word given to us a couple of weeks ago that D. R. Horton is also buying up all the lots in Aberdeen, another St. Johns County community which is next door to Durbin Crossing. The official word is that D. R. Horton bought five lots for $200,000, but our insider sources say there will be no more take downs in Aberdeen except by D. R. Horton. It looks like in exchange for the cash up front for the Murabella lots, the Developer is letting D. R. Horton buy Aberdeen lots in smaller groups.
So why is D. R. Horton buying lots in St. Johns County? Because the area is the hot bed for new construction in the Jacksonville area. Other Counties are experiencing higher volumes of new homes built and sold, but with the corridor of new homes between the Racetrack/210 and World Golf Village areas, plus the Nocatee explosion, look for St. Johns County to lead the way in the next few years. Nocatee is the top selling community in the state of Florida this year and Durbin Crossing is right behind it.

DRHorton is a good builder in our area and seems to be selling homes while other projects with other builder stand still. I think their key is they finance the homes in-house at a great rate.

Interesting. I guess his is prime area for commuters as well. Plus the taxes may be less than Clay County or Duval County.
