Flu Season In Dutchess County

By
Real Estate Agent with Diamond Partners Inc 00244377

I have myself to blame for being a risk taker. I didn't get a flu shot this year. I've never had one - I am a baby when it comes to needles. Luckily, I rarely get the flu. So, I am making up for it this year. I am just getting over a second bout with the flu - the first time was at the end of November. That time it lasted 3 weeks with residuals. That seems average for most of the other people I know who have contacted this season's flu. However, this last bout seems to be different - a more severe strain (effecting every bone in your body), but fortunately, a little more short lived. So, will I get a flu shot next year - probably not unless it comes presented to me in a "shot" glass or on a tablespoon. For more information about the 2007-2008 flu season log onto the following website:

Echinacea, Golden Seal, Black Cohosh, Elderberry Extract, Honey, Lemon, Grapefruit, and tons of filtered water with a teaspoon of Colloidal Silver to start my day. I haven't had the flu in 20 years. No joke.

I always get the flu shot though I still get sick. The years that there were shortages of the shot though and I wasn't able to get the shot, I was sick for 2 weeks straight and thought I was going to die since my body hurt so bad.  I hope that you feel better soon!  I am now using Airborne at the first sign of anything (like now as my little ones just got a bug) and it seems to help.

I too have been down with this flu....it hit me really hard this time!  It's going on 3 weeks and I'm just now starting to feel like eating a little bit.  My blogging has gone so far under...it's hard to blog when all you want to do is sleep!  Glad we are both feeling better

I haven't been sick (other than maybe a day or two of a runny nose or sore throat) in about 7 years.  I got the flu this year, right after New Years and it lasted for 2 weeks.  I couldn't even stand up for 3 days!  Then I would think that I was getting better for a day and it would come right back the next day!  Terrible!  I think (hope!!) I am over it this time.  I have never had a flu shot.

I haven't had the flu in years - because I get my shot every year.

Ohhhh, don't be such a big baby!  Its just a tiny little needle and you barely even feel it!  Try not looking and keep your mind occupied by talking to the nurse - tell her to sneak up on you and not say when she is going to do it.  Maybe that will help.

Really, seriously...  Its no where near as bad as getting blood drawn or having an IV put in.

Remember, as you get older, your immunity tends to go down.  So get a flu shot every year, especially if you are around kids, seniors, or health care workers often.  If everyone got the shot, then very few would get sick and there would be no one to spead the virus!  Wouldn't that be something!

Hope you get better quick!

Carol - I hope you are feeling better!  I'm big on getting a flu shot.  I also take apple cider vinegar each morning made by a company called Bragg.  It helps keep away things you don't want to get.

Carol - I hope you feel better soon, I too failed to get a shot.  My husband and son did but I have never had it done.
