Murphy, NC celebrated Halloween on Duke Street and the weather was perfect and the streets filled.
It’s a tradition in Murphy as October 31 turns our downtown area into one of the popular places for Trick-or-Treating young and old alike. The Murphy Police Department blocks of a long stretch of Duke Street and heading down Valley River Avenue from 6-9 pm to vehicular traffic, so it’s the perfect place for filling your bags with goodies. This was our new granddaughter, Notla, first Halloween and we had to tag along...after all she can’t eat all that candy.
Murphy, NC is a great small town and we love living here in Cherokee County. As we walked through the streets and up to all the houses we saw so many people from the community and their families. There are many historic and older homes and they were all decorated for the celebration too. According to our beloved Mayor Bill Hughes, residents in this area have been seeing between 1,400-1,600 Treaters come by on Oct. 31. We hope you’ll join us again next year for Halloween on Duke Street and throughout the historic downtown area of Murphy, NC.
