Advise Your Sellers to Start A Year Ahead For Selling!
As a home stager I encounter many, many older home sellers who have lived in their homes for 25 or 30 years. It's agony for some of them to face the fact that they need to move and downsize, and in some cases it feels like the end of the world! It is the end of their life as they know it but we try and make it as easy as possible.
If there is one piece of advice I could give a seller like this one it would be this:
Start preparing your home for selling at least 1 year ahead and have a plan of action.
This seller is smart. They have started to think about selling in a few years (probably happen before then) and needed new carpet in their formal living room so went with a more neutral colour.They replaced the carpet and we rearranged the furniture. The only other suggestion for them is to remove the china cabinet and all the personal collections in it, and replace it with a tall, lush green plant.
We then 'staged' the dining room for the way it will need to look for when they do sell. It's more spacious and still functional.
