The San Jacinto Battleground is a memorial to the men who fought in the war to gain independence by defeating the Mexican army, and to the first U.S. Navy ship to have the name "TEXAS", and went on to play an integral part in the American Naval victory in Cuba. Volunteer Historical guides will stage small arms demos from flintlocks to machine guns. You can visit encampments depicting the various eras of our nations military history. A memorial service honoring Americans who have died in the sservice of our country will be held on the bow of the Battleship TEXAS at 3:00pm on Feb. 16 and at 12:00pm on Sunday, Feb. 17. 2008.
