Decreased values....mortgage defaults....short sales...depressed markets....
I just returned to the U.S. after living in India for the past 2 1/2 months. I witnessed people living in makeshift tents - no utilities, no privacy, dirt floor, etc. But, they were PROUD of what they had and GRATEFUL for the shelter.
We are so fortunate in the United States to have what we do. If people would just calm down and say, "Hey, I'm not going to make a fortune on this house, but I am FORTUNATE to have a home".
Your home is your shelter; a basic necessity in life. Take care of it. Sacrifice for it. You will most likely find that you love it once you allow yourself to enjoy it.
So, go out for a walk (yes, even though it's cold) and meet your neighbors. Get involved with your civic league. Tackle that small home maintenance item you keep putting off. Eat at home. Play at home.
LIVE AT HOME. It's your space. It's your piece of the world.
