Pumpkins in Brentwood California 2013

It is the time of year for Pumpkins. I took my little Slobbits (Sloppy Hobbits) over to pick some in the heart of Brentwood. There are lots of places to get Pumpkins around here, but if you are in a hurry and want to still make it fun (and cheap) there is a Pumpkin Patch right on Brentwood Blvd in the large vacant lot next to the Jack in the Box and across from KFC/A&W/Taco Bell.

The Pumpkins are 3 for $5.00 and the kids were able to wonder through the field and pick them out. There are some going bad or damaged, but lots of nice ones too. None are huge or even big, but there are plenty of nice sized kid Pumpkins.

I let each of my 4 little Slobbits pick out one each and then I had hoped they had Blue Pumpkins that my wife likes to cook with. They did not have any Blue ones but I was Able to find some White Pumpkins that are supposed to be very good.

I will say that my kids had a lot of fun running around the field and picking out the “One.” Janson found an odd shaped one that looks like Gerry the Gourd from Veggie Tales. Not sure how I will carve that.

Not a bad buy for pumpkins and a little fun with the kids. I bet next weekend they are even cheaper.

Gene, There is something very special about picking out that perfect pumpkin.  I remember how long it would take my son to choose his.  I've never heard of a blue pumpkin. I've seen the white ones but did not know they are good for cooking.  There is always so much to learn here in the Rain.

Gene

The kids of all ages love to pick their own special pumpkin the old fashion way from the pumpkin field.

Good luck and success.
