There are many opportunities for kids to play soccer in the Raleigh area! One of the most recognized is CASL (Capital Area Soccer League). While I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING against CASL I was faced years ago with the questions......
- What if my son doesn't like soccer?
- How long do I have to commit and what kind of money am I laying out for a fizzling interest?
Well, I found an alternative that has worked BEAUTIFULLY and I wanted to share it with you! Y.A.K.S.!!! Youngsville Area Kids Soccer - perfect solution! Over the years (3 years) my family has watched YAKS grow into a phenomenal experience for the kids and parents alike. They offer several age groups such as:
4's & 5's - 10 min quarters/2 min break for subs - 10min halftime
6/7's -10min quarters/2 min break for subs - 10 min halftime - coach on the field. (to stay near the sides of the field) (coach CANNOT touch any player on the field)
8/9'S - 25min half/10min break
10/11's - 30min half/10min break
12/13's - 30min half/10min break
YAKS is a great place for your child to learn the skills they need to move on to a more competitive league should they desire. It is a wonderful taste of soccer to see if they even enjoy it! The registration fee in competitive, they provide jersey's and socks and it is truly one big family!
YAKS offer Soccer Camps throughout the year. Some great ones coming up are Coach Coe's Red Rams Soccer Camp from June 16 - 18 and there is also Eurotech Soccer Camps this year on July 7 - 11 and August 4 - 8.
YAKS is very interactive in that they are open to feedback and suggestions from parents and respond with great enthusiasm. Parents volunteer for coaching and thus create an environment of nurturing, learning and team work. My son has grown quite a bit through the years as a result of YAKS. He has learned responsibility, teamwork, respect for others and he kicks a MEAN goal! Of course, his dad is his coach so he better!
Check them out if you have a child that may show interest in soccer!
Thanks for stopping by My Back Yard where there is ALWAYS something going on!
