How does your State Compare in Property Taxes?
I work in DC, Virginia and Maryland and I'm often asked to compare the areas by clients. This chart is a great reference guide, especially for relocators. Please leave your comments on Joan's original blog post...
How does your State Compare in Property Taxes?
If you are relocating to Colorado, you will be in for good news as far as the Colorado property Tax Rates.
I have worked with many families relocating from the East Coast and they are always pleased to hear about our lower Property Taxes.
In Colorado, your property taxes are paid through your mortgage, and are paid twice a year - February 15th and June 15th. If your home is paid off, you too can pay twice a year, or in full April 30th. Property taxes are always paid in arrears - when you close a home, the taxes are not due yet, and will be collected through the day you close, and given as a credit to the buyer and then the new buyers will be responsible for that year of taxes.
Besides our weather and the mountains, here is another reason to relocate to Colorado!
