Memorial Day weekend kicks off with some great events! All across the country, Memorial Day sets the tone for summer and the great events that happen in each community. Here in Sacramento, Memorial Day celebrates with plenty of fairs, festivals and special events. Let's start with:
The Sacramento Music Festival - May 24 - 27th - times vary - Old Sacramento
Formerly known as the Jazz Jubilee, the Sacramento Music Festival is celebrating its 41st year in Old Sacramento and other venues!
The series of events no longer features just jazz, but a wide assortment of music styles to enjoy, including swing, country, Latin and even banjo!
The Music Festival has grown so large it now features over 20 sites for performances as well as the traditional street shows!
Enjoy music in Old Sacramento, The Convention Center area and the Next Generation stages at the Downtown Plaza. The Next Generation sites are "Free" of charge, and feature youth bands!
Next up - The Sacramento County Fair - at Cal Expo!
Smaller than the State Fair and much more affordable too, the Sacramento County Fiar happens every Memorial Day WEekend and plays host to almost 90,000 guests. Enjoy traditional county fair contests, displays featuring local agriculture and plenty of activities for the entire family! The fair runs Thursday through Monday of Memorial Day weekend. Cost $5 to attend! Kids under 12 are free!
Wounded Veteran Run! May 27th - 8:30 a.m. - Folsom Parkway Trails - 25005 Blue Ravine Road, Folsom, CA
This Memorial Day walk/run benefits a non-profit organization that transitions wounded veterans back into civilian life.
Kids can participate in a fun run while adults choose between 5k or 10k.
A special 3k is also available. Register and pay online through the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, as prices increase for onsite entries.

Memorial Day weekend is so full of events - this is just the highlights - Sacramento is such a diverse group - and the people are so supportive - there is something here for everyone!
