A warning to vacation renters and rental agents: another scam is afoot. Online scammers are now copying ads for vacation rental listings and reposting them on websites like Craigslist. Vacationers then show up at the property to begin their vacation, only to discover they had been duped.
Protect yourself! When looking at a listing online, copy a few lines from the listing description and paste it into Google. If any of those sentences show up elsewhere, you’ll know it’s a scam. Also, be wary of anyone asking you to pay with a money order, Western Union, or any other untraceable payment options.
