Finding HOMES . . . For All
The Long Tail of the Missing Cat
The knock at the door on Thursday night, during dinner time, meant one thing . . . solicitors!
No, I don't want to repave my patio, or buy life insurance, or list my home for sale. Thank you very much.
Peepholes are great, and looking through mine I didn't see an unknown caller. I saw my little neighbor girl . . . bearing gifts?!?
As I opened the door, she had a black cat in her arms, "This your cat?" she asked.
Nope, never saw it before. "Okay, well it's been at our house for a day or so."
I noticed the cat later that night, up the street hanging out with another neighbor.
Early this afternoon the door bell rang. Another look through the peephole. There was another little neighbor girl . . . also bearing gifts. The black cat.
She asked if I would take it. "We've been feeding it for a few days, but can't keep it. Will you take her?"
So I did.
I don't need and/or want another pet. What to do, what to do?
After five minutes of the black cat hissing at my Molly dog, and climbing on top of things I never imagined every being an animal perch . . . I got on Craigs List.
Reading through a lot of "lost cat" posts, I found this one which I read and re-read:
Our cat went missing on Tuesday September 2nd. She is Black with a small white marking on her chest and two large white markings on her belly. She has very long legs and tail. She may be wearing a red sparkle collar with a bell(but she tends to lose her collars a lot). She is very friendly and likes to visit with everyone. please check your sheds and garages, she likes to take naps in random places. PLEASE HELP US BRING HER HOME!!! She is loved and missed very much. Please call me with any info you may have. THANK YOU

I called the number in the LOST & FOUND ad, and we concluded that Jenna's cat was FOUND.
How the heck it got into our neighborhood . . . from hers . . . we'll just never know.
A on the map is where she lives.
B on the map is where I live. That's about 25 miles! Oh, and in the MIDDLE is the Williamette River.
When I called Jenna to say "I think I found your cat" she told me she was just getting ready to print MISSING CAT flyers to hang in her neighborhood. I said "You would have had the wrong neighborhood if you did that!"
25 miles away . . . we had Lily in our neighborhood!
How she got there . . . we'll never know.
Happy Jenna with Found Lily Cat
