The Day Time Stood Still When My iPhone Turned Off

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

The strangest thing happened with my iPhone in Sacramento a few days ago. Since I almost always wear my Bluetooth all day long, I initially heard a little blip in my ear but didn't pay attention because I was glued to my monitor, fingers flying across the keyboard, which is basically what most of my days are like. I got up to stretch, pet the cats, and I picked up my iPhone to make a call. I can't ask Siri to do it because she tries to call Nigeria.

The screen was black. I pressed my Bluetooth and it made no connection. I pressed the Power On button and nothing happened. I pressed the on / off button on top and nada.

My heart slowly sank into my shoes, and believe me, there is no room in my shoes except for my toes. A wave began to pass over me. I felt as though I might collapse so I sat down in a safe spot just in case I keeled over. A God-fearing person would gravitate toward the thought that Armageddon was upon the world. This went on for 20 minutes when all of a sudden, for no explicit reason, my phone suddenly dinged with an email sound, one of the most beautiful sounds in the world.

Hi Elizabeth, We have been so dependent upon our new found technology, that we can imagine how we ever survived 10 to 15 years ago without them. Then they discovered the wheel and fire! (In comparison) lol

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - sounds like a marketing ploy for the iPhone6!  No wonder they sold 10 million during their first weekend.

Hi Sally: I can get along without most stuff - no electricity, no gas, no running water, even no internet, but I cannot get by without my phone.

Hi Larry: I know exactly the sentiment.

Hi Hella: They sold all those phones, yes, but it doesn't mean they have them on hand to ship.

Were you talking to Charlie Brown's teacher?  Your blog re-enactment of the conversation cracked me up.

It really is amazing how a little loss of technology can rattle our perfect world. One of the reasons I think I like swimming as much as I do, is it is during pool time, that I am totally free of any electronic devices.  I can get along without my cell phone better than I can with the loss of the internet however!

I just read on a streaming news alert about Apple.  Apparently a new update disables your iPhone so don't update it until the new update to update the error comes out.  Confused?  I am.

Good morning Elizabeth,

The temporary loss of technology can be a good thing! It shows us how glued we are to instant communication.....everything can wait..just a little bit..the world won't end...what did I say...can it be true!

Sorry, Elizabeth.  That was me.  I hacked into your phone and was speaking to my Nigerian financial adviser about where to send the $20 million I was promised.

I do everything from my phone. I would be rendered useless. Do they even have pay phones anymore?
