MIND ON VACATION, NOT WORK
I haven't posted in awhile, and I have no excuse other than I can't take my mind off of my upcoming vacation. I sit down to write something, and my brain immediately goes to the beach, snorkeling and yummy fruity drinks. Since my job is what I rely on to pay for these fun vacations, you would think I'd get my act together. Apparently not!
FLY AWAY
Most of our vacations are ones in which we pack up our travel trailer and head out to enjoy nature. We camp at state parks, go to nearby lakes, occasionally visit a federal park. Wherever we go, it usually involves jeans, shorts, hiking boots, and bug repellent. Believe me, I love these get aways. The best part is I don't wear makeup and I don't care what my hair looks like. (I'm usually wearing a hat!)
Several years ago, I came up with an idea of alternating vacations. One year travel trailer trip and the next year involves a plane or a cruise ship. It has worked out very well, and I have also found that when it's the year of the plane or cruise ship, I get very excited. I spend every waking moment deciding what to pack, perusing the Internet looking at tourist attractions, and counting the days until we leave.
TRAVELING WITH OTHERS
This year we are traveling with another couple, which is something we have only done once before. That trip was a cruise, and it worked out very well. Since there was so much to offer, we did a lot together, and we did things apart. Fun was had by all.
This time we are going to be staying in a 2-bedroom suite at a resort in Cancun. These friends have been inviting us for years to join them, because they have a vacation ownership. By going with them, we get to enjoy all of their perks. Needless to say, we can't wait, but the closer it gets, I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Will we get along okay being together for a week? Are we obligated to do what they want to do because they have the "perks"? Am I being ridiculous thinking like this?
ALL IS GOOD
I talked to my friend and she was thinking the same thing! We have agreed that we don't have to be together all of the time. We picked our excursions that we want to do together, and the rest of the time we will be on our own. Not only that, but we don't get to see each other that often, so this will be a chance to spend some quality time together. All four of us get along well, we all love to eat and drink, and we all love to laugh. What am I worried about???? Let's get going!!
