Vacation Over....Get to Work
I wrote a blog a few weeks ago about not being able to keep my mind on my work, because I was looking forward to going on vacation. Now, here I am 3 weeks later, trying to write a blog about work and all I can think of is what a great vacation I had. I just can't win!
Since I'm sitting here staring at a blank blog template, it seems a shame not to write anything. I guess I'll report back about the vacation......it was the best! I try not to put others to sleep with stories of vacations, but I do have to put in a plug because this past week was one of the best times I've ever had.
Below are a few things I learned while being away last week:
1. All inclusive vacations are so convenient. We've never gone to an all inclusive resort before, and I
admit I didn't think it was worth it. I decided it wasn't worth it, because we would pay for food and drink we wouldn't eat. WRONG!!! This was far better than a cruise! There were 12 restaurants and all the drinks you wanted (alcohol and non-alcohol). The best part was that you could eat whenever and whatever you wanted. The service was beyond anything we had ever experienced.
2. Traveling with friends adds to the experience. I had mentioned in my previous blog that I was nervous traveling with friends. WRONG!!! We had a wonderful time with our friends, got to know each other even better, and all were respectful of what each other wanted or didn't want to do. I haven't laughed so much in my life, and I learned so much about so many things I never even thought about. We'd travel with them again in a heartbeat.
3. Try someplace different. My husband had an unpleasant experience in Mexico over 30 years ago and vowed never to go there again. He was insistent going to Mexico would be a mistake. WRONG!!! He has admitted he made a mistake in being so stubborn about not wanting to go anywhere that had a palm tree unless it was Hawaii. This trip surpassed any trip we have taken to Hawaii. (Don't get me wrong, we love Hawaii and I'm sure we will go again.) The resort, the tours, the scenery, all were 5 star quality without the Hawaii price. Weather was comfortable, water was warm, breeze was refreshing and every day was better than the day before.
5-Star Customer Service Makes a Difference
The one thing that stands out about everything I experienced this past week were the people who work at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. We were there for 7 days and every person, without exception, made it clear their job was to make our vacation the best it could be. We were met with a smile, an offer to help, and always a cheerful hello or thank you. It was such a pleasure to be around such cheerful people, and we appreciated their kindness and helpful spirit. I hope they knew we truly appreciated their service, and I'm going to strive to be as respectful and as helpful to my clients as they were to us.
