Dallas Downs is a Franklin, TN community that is located just south of Mack Hatcher, on Lewisburg Pike. This location means that you are just minutes from all of the shopping, restaurants and entertainment of both Historic Downtown Franklin and Cool Springs. You are also just a few minutes from access to I-65.
The Dallas Downs neighborhood was originally part of a larger plot of land that once belonged to the former Mayor of Nashville, Randal McGavock (1824-25) who built the Carnton Plantation, a great tourist attraction with a rich history of its own. After the war the McGavocks sold off parts of the land.
William Henry Glass bought part of that land, and later was inheritted by his daughter, Sarah Glass Polk Dallas. Sarah and her husband, Hugh Glass built the white house that currently sits at the entrance to Dallas Downs. Later, Mack Hatcher split the property and the other side became Polk Place. Homes in Dallas Downs range in size from about 1,600 up to more than 5,000 square feet. Some lots towards the front of the neighborhood are 1.5 - almost 2 acres, but most lots are roughly .25 to .33 acres, with lots of mature trees. Most homes were built in the early to mid 1990s.
Dallas Downs is zoned within the award-winning Williamson County School District. It is currently zoned for Oakview Elementary, Page Middle School and Centennial High School.
