Thursday night I was able to attend Kendall’s (my Sophomore daughter) cross country banquet at Kingwood High School. The team placed 3rd in the State, setting numerous records along the way. Towards the conclusion of the venue the coaches called the varsity runners up by name and shared something about each of them. I couldn’t help but get tearful when Kendall’s coach choked up when speaking of the impact she’s had on her personally as well as the team. The theme for our cross country girls season was “We Can and We Will”. As the girls would line up, ready for the gun to go off they would each say “We Can and We Will”. The girls head coach believed that saying made a significant difference in the way the girls approached every workout and every race. I often hear my daughter in the early mornings talk to herself as she’d head out the door for an early run “I Can and I Will”.
How many of us start the day with something more like “Do I have to?” or “I can’t and I won’t”. So much of the success or failure we experience each day is dependent on our attitude. The attitude we wake up with can determine our day. If you’re struggling today to keep a positive mindset then try something I do on these types of days. Look in the mirror and say out loud “I Can and I Will”. If you have to yell it to feel it’s power then do so. When you pull up to a listing appointment and you’re feeling nervous, or are struggling to get on the phone to make your calls state out loud “I Can and I Will”. This is your day to succeed.
Great selling out there. Thanksgiving is just over a week away. This week will play a big role in the kind of success you have in December.
