Active Rain is like a Second Family with Community Guidelines
Every family has rules made by parents, and since Active Rain is like a second family there are also rules or community guidelines to adhere to...and yes the guidelines are similar to your family rules.
Parents were always repeating the rules to the family to have specific actions and conduct ..... RESPECT:
Respect everyone
Show Empathy and understanding
Provide Support to other family members
Practice praise
Showing and Earning Respect
Be Considerate
Tolerate and be thankful
We are taught to respect others, our parents, siblings, elders, etc. Like our parent's rules for respecting others, AR guidelines ask us to RESPECT the Real Estate Industry, The ActiveRain community and real estate industry as a whole will only be respected to the degree of character represented by the actions of its professionals. Do not conduct yourself in a way that disgraces your fellow members on this network.
Our parents tell us to treat everyone equal, no name calling if someone was different. If not you could get a time out or sent to your room without supper. AR guidelines ask us to RESPECT the Fair Housing Ethos. Members must not violate any Fair Housing Laws. Content that could be interpreted as indicating a preference of a protected class will be removed. Violations of this guideline may result in loss of access to the site.
AR guidelines ask us to RESPECT the AR Community. All families require a certain level of trust...our parents expected it and so does the AR community.
Take a look at the AR community guidelines. And, when you do, think about the rules your parents had for you at home. Aren’t they similar. For instance, we are told not to lie, cheat, harm others by fighting or using mean words. AR guidelines are similar, below are a few:
-
Do not take malicious action against the network.
-
Do not advertise yourself or your services in the comment section of another members blog post.
-
Do not personally attack another person.
-
Do not slander another person.
-
Do not republish any content revealed in a Member's Only post.
-
Respect copyrights. Only upload content and images that you have the right to use commercially.
-
Do not plagiarize content from another source and publish it as your own. Read the entire community guidelines.
Why do we have rules? Someone did something that went too far, caused more trouble than it was worth, or simply didn't work. Many rules, like the yellow lines painted on shop floors, represent a consensus about a safe operating area.
Someone said “Rules are made to be broken”. Not in my family, and not in the AR community. Searching the Internet today on who said this quote, I found that General Douglas MacArthur did but that was only half the quote. The entire quote was "Rules are mostly made to be broken and are too often for the lazy to hide behind." Surprising how we sort of shortened it to adjust the real meaning.
If we all followed the rules we were taught by our parents, then playing in the RAIN should be enjoyable for all. As members of Active Rain, we need a refresher once a year on our guidelines. So please read the AR Community Guidelines again.
