There are a trillion excellent things to do in Dallas, but for this posting I am going to highlight my trip to the Auto Show, my favorite hamburger joint, and the best toy store in the Metroplex.
It is a tradition to go to the Auto Show every year, and this year we decided to make a whole day out of it while we were downtown.
We got to the Auto Show early, before they opened, hoping to beat the crowds. I'd rather stand in line waiting to get in than fight crowds later in the day.
While we were waiting for the doors to open, we spent some time playing with the dogs that the SPCA had brought in. I wanted to take pictures of some of the dogs, but they only took them out of the kennels for serious adoption inquiries, and I didn't want to snap photos through the cages.
The lines were not that long, and we were able to move through each dealers exhibits with ease. Of course, there were many cars that I liked, but I'll just mention a few here.
Of Course, the first car we saw is the Audi R8. Very nice!
The Smart Car was a top priority for me. I just had to see one up close. The verdict? I would never drive one of these cars outside of a golf course. IT'S A GOLF CART! I could literally rock it back and forth with one hand. Remember the YUGO?
With the Camaro due to premier next year, and the reinvention of the Charger, and now the YUGO, er uh, Smart Car, is there a trend? Well after seeing this beauty, I would say so. C'mon, are they really trying to bring back the El Camino?
There were so many cars to see, that after about an hour, they all started to look the same and I couldn't remember what set one apart from another. It truly was a great morning but when we got to the end I was ready for lunch, and since we were downtown I just couldn't leave without getting a burger from the best burger joint in the metroplex.
Next up, A Day In Dallas Part II - The Twisted Root. Stay tuned!
