- If you know something about the Greater Danbury area, Candlewood Lake is at the center of the region. It offers close to 60 miles of shoreline encompassing five different towns: Danbury,New Fairfield, Sherman, Brookfield and New Milford,Connecticut. There is no tunnel or bridge to the cross the lake, and depending on where you live and where you need to go, it may take up to 40 minutes to travel, although by the way that a crow flies it might not be there far.
Either side of the lake is a fine choice. Each has their own character and positive features. The lake frontage breaks down as followed. The eastern side of the lake is Brookfield and New Milford. The western side of the lake would be Sherman and New Fairfield. Danbury is at the southern central of the lake, with several miles of shoreline along the northern boundaries with the surrounding bedroom communities.
Generally speaking, the towns on the western side of Candlewood lake are more rural. It is an easier commuter to New York York state .The eastern side of the lake is more developed, with the regional 'miracle mile' being located here, Federal Road. The eastern side also does generally have more services and employment opportunities locally. Home values are generally similar on both sides of the lake and the homes that you would find are of are generally similar caliber.. Other differences between the to difference sides are each town is zoned for different public schools. The property taxes would be pretty similar as well.
