Not all stagers are alike when you are selling your home. Some stagers only do vacants, and a few will do occupied swellings. The fact that not all stagers are alike, also means their fees, and services vary as well.
I'm now going on my 5th year in staging, and have learned that since not all stagers are alike, neither are our clients, and their expectations. Often a client feels that the era of home staging has evolved, and they now have visions of an HGTV-TV look that resembles a model home. It couldn't be farther from the truth, ..or reality.
You property has unique features that a good stager will help you market, but since not all stagers are alike ...and unless they can demonstrate a track record, and range of work, you could be wasting your marketing investment. Be careful. Some will offer "mini-stagings". SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Staging is primarily designed to show your house, and its space. If you are truly selling your home, don't show it with empty rooms. Doors, closets, walls and carpets will do little to assist a buyer's imaginations. Below is an example of how staging can change an impression.
Now a mini-staging will not help buyers determine the space. This is why not all stagers are alike. A few pictures on the wall, or a rug don't help buyers understand traffic flows, the scale of furniture that is right for a room, or the amount. Good stagers will know that. Others may take your money, and still leave buyers wondering .
Make sure your home looks its best. There are no shortcuts in today's market
