The Way We Were

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Real Living Sugar Pine Realty

Well, regular unleaded at the Out Post in Soulsbyville (in the Sierra foothills of California near Yosemite) hit $3.79 as of this morning on the way to work. (Ouch.) And it's getting to the point where I just grab what I need at the grocery store and close my eyes. How 'bout you? Which got me to thinking about the good ol' days. Time for a time warp. You'll notice below the comparable prices of various items in the years 1960 and 1980 and then my best guess on prices today based on where I shop and buy gas in the Mother Lode. Both graphs are gleaned from Headline News 1960 and Headline News 1980, respectively. (Each site includes top songs, academy award winners, shows on TV and hot new toys of those years and others. It's kinda cool.) So here we go with the way we were versus the way we are (click to enlarge):

HI!!!! Our prices here are right up with you. SUCKS to say the least.  Here we tour--Thursdays--anywhere from 20-40 homes (well, us old folks do a lot of drive-bys) and the price of gas is stopping MANY Realtors from touring. And, I don't blame them!

How are you ALL doing in Tuolumne County???

Hi Kathy. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. We're all doing fine except for feeling the pressure of the market. Agents here are having to reconsider going on tour, also. We hope all is well with you.

All is well with me....but business STILL stinks.  We're just seeing a little pick up--little. Buyers, thankfully are now looking. But this is a different market here, resort and second homes. Open Houses are getting business, now that spring is here. That is how I built my business here in the first place--OH   though I don't like them.

SAY HI To Emmett and the girls!!!

HUGS!
