Your Comfort Zone is a Rut

Your comfort zone is a rut . . . . that becomes a one way

path to living a life of the status quo.

Lou Ludwig, Sales and Management Consultant,

Success Coach, Speaker, Trainer and Author

As I see it . . . . . . .

Your comfort zone is a rut

The longer you remain in the rut . . . . the deeper it becomes.

The good news is you can step out of that rut . . . . any time that you choose to do it. Your rut is nothing more than a bad habit repeated . . . . that you’re allowing to control you . . . . and your life.

By changing your attitude you will see the way to get out of the rut . . . . To resume your forward momentum on your success journey . . . . and to get back on the right path to achieve you goals.

Make the choice to be the one to step out of the rut in your life . . . . To make positive things in your life happen . . . . and to achieve greater levels of success  in your life and career.

Your personal effort . . . . with a commitment to hard work is the foundation for achieving your dreams and your desired results.

Be the one to make things happen . . . . and to the first step is to realize that you comfort zone is a  rut. Step out of the rut . . . . and you will step into a world of new opportunity.

Lou I know for a fact I preform way better under pressure. Comfort zone is a scary way to say you are not challenged. I really like this blog and wish it could be featured.

Lou

Thanks for the wake up call.

You got to straddle those ruts or you will get stuck.  It is always challenging getting out of the Comfort Zone.

You're absolutely right! Even if it's something you love, very often you want to challenge yourself to be better than before.

Hi Lou -- these are such true words ---- I have to refrain from using the term "comfort zone"  --- it's a dangerous location.

Good morning Lou. Not willing to be part of the status quo, much too comfortable, so can't see myself there.

Make it a great week!

When everything is working smooth, it's a well oiled system.  When things start to go south, it becomes a rut.

Lou, I remember an old photo of a sign ,circa 1920, along a muddy roadway. It said, "Choose your rut carefully. You will be in it for the next forty miles." So much truth, so little planning. We had a rut at a cattle gate on our farm that was about 100 feet long. You had to have a head of steam to get through it. One time, a neighbor tossed a large rock in the rut, but I knew nothing of it. Just beyond the rut was an old chicken house which my dad had told me several times he wanted me to tear down.

I had a buddy home from college one weekend, and I was showing out a bit with the old 54 Chevy p/u. He opened the gate and hopped in. I gunned the ole truck, hit the burried rock, ricoheted into the chicken coup and we spent the afternoon clearing up the debris. That was a hard way to get out of a rut, but it taught me several lessons: 1. There is more than one way to knock down an old chicken coup. Dad noticed and knew more than he let on. 2. Even a familiar rut may hide surprises. 3. Act like a fool, and you will be proven such. 4. You may think you are on course, but you may learn without notice that you are not in control.Yes, I have found myself in a few ruts.

I have been a counselor in the psychotherapy field for many years and one of the sayings I learned and liked when a newbie was:  CHOOSE YOUR RUT CAREFULLY; YOU WILL BE IN IT A LONG TIME. I have watched so many people struggle with this -  possible, but difficult to get out of a deep rut - once it has become a habit with your own name on it.
