National Donut Day is traditionally celebrated the first Friday of June, which falls on June 5 this year. The celebration was first established by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor women who served coffee and donuts to soldiers on the battlefields during World War I.
Today Donut chains are still eager to get in on the National Donut Day celebration. Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme are 2 local places to grab a FREE Donut.
If you buy a beverage at Dunkin' Donut, you'll get a free donut. Krispy Kreme is serving up free donuts – one per guest – to celebrate National Donut Day on June 5. Don't forget to get treated to your donut fix this Friday.
