Stockton is in the heart of the Central Valley. The city is located on the San Joaquin River, in the northern San Joaquin Valley, and has an estimated population of 300,899 people...and growing. The City of Stockton has various modes of transportation that provide access for Stockton. The Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) train specializes in providing transportation to the everyday people...whether you are going to school, work or visiting the area.
I had the pleasure of experiencing the ACE train and learning about the "ACE Forward Program" to extend the existing ACE service. The ACE Forward Program plans new stations in the downtown neighborhoods of Manteca, Modesto, Turlock, and Merced...with potential stations in downtown Tracy, Ripon, Livingston, Atwater, and Lathrop at River Islands.
The Advantage of ACE Train. The Altamont Corridor Express started service in October 1998. The ACE train provides better mobility alternative to cars and helps reduce highway congestion and greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and support walkable communities.
The ACE Service. ACE is a public transit agency that offers four morning trains and the four returning trains in the evening. ACE operates Monday to Friday and are closed on weekends. ACE connects to other rail agencies at some of the stations, such as: Amtrak, VTA, etc...
