Grand Canyon North Rim, A Big Slice of Heaven!
View from The Grand Canyon Lodge- North Rim
One of my favorite places to visit in Arizona is the Grand Canyon. I go every year, on average 4 times. I don't make it to the North Rim often as it is a 350 mile drive from Surprise. The North Rim is only open May 15- October 15 which limits access even more. The North Rim is also 1,000 feet higher than the South Rim at 8,500 feet.
The picture in this post is from this past Saturday, the weather was perfect, 75 degrees. If you look at the picture, you can see Arizona's highest mountain, Humphrey's Peak (12,637 feet) in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Each time I visit, I can't help but feel thankful that it was designated a National Park in February 1919. Thank goodness it is protected and we have the opportunity to enjoy all that it has to offer. It is isolated and has an old west feel to it, what a treat given the busy life I lead on a day to day basis. I sure am thankful to have this wonderful place, for the most part, in my back yard.
If you haven't been, you must visit and enjoy all that it has to offer.
