Open House Visitor

By
Real Estate Agent with RLAH@properties AB95346

This afternoon, I had a busy Open House in Chevy Chase.  And between the human visitors, I spotted this little guy on a tree right outside of the kitchen window.  I happened to have my fancy camera with me, and figured out how to make it take a bunch of shots one after the other.  And this is my favorite of a series of the squirrel leaving the tree and running along the top of the fence.

These are called "melonistic" squirrels.  They are all black, and they are found all over Chevy Chase.

Hi Patricia.  I don't think I have ever seen a black squirrel.  Very different.

Good morning Patricia,

It is always interesting to watch a squirrel go from one point to the next especially with these two in tow!

Make yourself a great day.

Glad to hear you had a busy open house in Chevy Chase but still had time to smell the roses or in this case observe the squirrels.

Hi Pat - Nice photo. When we lived in the mountains, we had a lot of black tufted-ear squirrels - they look very similar, except for the ears.

Inna, ours are mostly gray or tan.  The black ones are running all over Chevy Chase, and once I saw a pure white albino squirrel.

Kerry, at least the squirrels don't try all that hard to come indoors!  Actually, my cats do a great job of scaring them off.

Debbie, I just clicked the link you set, and it's too bad they can't figure out a mutation to keep human hair from turning gray!

Jay, I once had an all black cat whose name was Melon.  Nobody scooped her though.

Until recently, I had never seen an all black squirrel.  However, recently, I've seen 2 in my area.  They must have hitch-hiked somehow, to Sacramento.

Great shot!!!!!! I have never seen a black or white squirrel before. In my neck or the woods, I have to settle for coyotes and cottontails with the occasional rattlesnake at my backdoor during the warm(er) season.
