Better Late Than Never? Not Always The Best Attitude !!

Procrastination is a word of “inaction” that many real estate agents exercise.  There’s always something more important, at the time. There’s always another task that is more meaningful to that person.  When the phone stops ringing, and the commission checks cease, whose fault is it!!

Everyone has a job description, and in order to fulfill the assigned responsibilities, one needs to make time for even the most minor tasks.  In order for an organization or team or individual to work in a smooth manner, every agent needs to be vigilant of his/her duties and what’s requested of each one of them.

Every team member has a job description, but occasionally, there is an overlap of  duties.  To accomplish what needs to be completed and to leave no voids, cooperation is needed and procrastination must not be a factor in that equation.

Procrastination is not a word to be used or performed by any real estate agent who has “ambition.”  An ambitious agent is one who has his/her head in the game at all times.  An ambitious agent is one who focuses on whatever it takes to accomplish the ultimate goal.  To rank highly and be in the forefront of the marketplace is an ambitious, highly-driven and goal oriented real estate agent.

Just sharing a thought for the moment….

There is a side effect of procrastination that looms large.  It comes from the anxiety of approaching due dates and times, and finding you are overwhelmingly behind!

Barbara, this is great advice to follow, especially in our business. Real estate is changing and moving at such great pace that we don't have time to hit the pause button.

Procrastination is usually coupled with fear, or apathy, or indifference, or sloth, or inconsideration.  It's not good for anything or anybody.  Do it now!

For the past couple of weeks I've been procrastinating about a task that I had placed on my to do list. Today I thought about WHY and the answer was "I really don't want to do it." The next questions were "Is this important?" "Will this increase my income, help build my business, or bring me or anyone else joy?" The answer on all counts was "No."

It was just something extra that I thought I probably should do.

It sure feels good to cross that one off and quit feeling guilty about procrastinating!

Yes indeed.  Procrastination can be deadly.  Either do it, or hire someone to do it.  That's what I just did w/ my quickbooks.

It's so easy to be distracted or focus on the activities that aren't crucial. Thanks for the reminder that we should push forward and tackle the most important activities first!

Procrastinators are usually also always tardy to meetings and appointments. It's as if they live their whole life like they don't have to be on the same time table everyone else is on and it's very frustrating.

Every once in a while I catch myself moving a call down on my must-do list when it's a call I don't want to make. When I realize what I'm doing, and why, I just take a deep breath and make the call. I feel so much better when I can say I did it.

Otherwise, I don't procrastinate.
