As Long Island Relocation Specialists, we enjoy working with out-of-town clients...those who will become first-time Long Islander's and those who are returning "Home".
We treat all our clients the same, but those that are Relocating may need extra time looking, and may want to see many different towns and neighborhoods within a short time-frame.
Relocation buyers may not be sure what town they want to live in. Many times they are seeing Long Island for the first time. Many times they want to see areas that they read about, and many times they want to see what they've found on the internet.
Larry and I both like to show homes to Relocation Clients together. This way we may get a better indication of what they are "Really" looking for.
Last weekend we received a call from a potential Relocation Client who saw one of our listings on the internet. They said they googled our name and thought we were the right team to work with for their house-hunt on The North Shore Of Long Island.
They have a list of houses they want to see from the internet, and are only going to be in town 2 days. They were bringing their young child with them and said they will need to take some breaks throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, bathroom breaks and some rest time too. (This child, and probably the parents are going to be exhausted, and of course we're already exhausted just planning it). They have 30 homes on their list, but many of them already have accepted offers, so the wife keeps adding to the list.
We enjoy working with clients that are not familiar with Long Island and don't mind showing many houses in one or 2 days when it involves an out-of-state buyer. We understand making a decision to move to another state is not easy. So far I have spent many hours trying to work around other agents schedules, co-coordinating the times and the towns in some sort of sequence, and allowing times for breaks in an order that makes sense. Trying to schedule appointments to fit their needs, and their time-frame is going to be a challenge and it has already been very time consuming just trying to sort it all, especially as she adds to the list. It's a bit of a scheduling dilemma. With Long Islander's, we would never schedule so many homes because showing too many in one day becomes overwhelming. We have been on tours where after 5 homes, people get glazed eyes, and cannot see a thing anymore.
We look forward to working with them as Buyer Clients, but this is going to be a tight schedule.
Relocation is fun, but it can be a burnout for everyone involved. Realtors and buyers both need to have an Idea - A Plan - And then Take Action!
