Have you noticed how we sometimes take the everyday pleasures for granted? We just assume that everything will keep going the way we expect them to go until something happens that reminds us that nothing in life is a guarantee.
Last night, we were relaxing and watching an old rerun of 'The Closer' on TV when suddenly everything went dark.
Scurrying around, I found two candles which I lit for a little light. I knew we had about half a dozen flashlights in our home but who knew where they were.
We went out back and looked at the sky and I got a snap of these crazy clouds in the sky. Had the eastern storm created a major lightening bolt which took out the transformer? Or was it the fact that we reached 100 degrees and everyone had their A/C running that caused the outage?
Luckily, with my iPhone, I went to the Xcel website and reported the outage. They responded that the power should be restored within 3 hours which would be right around midnight.
We hung out for a while and finally went upstairs to get some rest. Sadly, the room was HOT without air conditioning so we tossed and turned.
At the stroke of midnight, the ceiling fan began spinning and the cool air began flowing again.
What a night!
Today I will be locating all of the flashlights in our home and make sure they are within reach for the next outage.
Sadly, I won't know who killed the guy outside the bar until I find that episode of 'The Closer' and watch it again!
So what caused the power outage? I'm sure I will never know!
