Could Sharing Blog Posts With The Public Be Hurting Your Business?

Are there any secrets in the real estate business?  Is it reasonable to assume that what we know and do is not known and done by the competition?  Is there a reason to be worried about other agents reading our posts?

Any and every agent has the ability to join the Free Version of ActiveRain; become a follower; and read every word written by us.  In my opinion, there is nothing to gain from posting to Members Only.

There is no marketing technique, style or mentality that has not been discussed and clearly described in writing online millions of times.  To be concerned about others following in our footsteps and using our methods in our marketplace is not a good reason to use Members Only.  I view that as counterproductive.  It’s diluting the value of the posts and reducing the chance of potential future clients finding our thoughts and having a better understanding of how we think and work.

If another agent uses one of our techniques and does it better than we do it, it’s important to know that we need to step up our game.  That’s called competition.  We’re surrounded by it.  We need to learn how to deal with it without having it cost us business by not writing posts that are Public.  We can’t tiptoe.  We can’t shield what we do and how we do it.  We may think we have the market cornered with our marketing style, but we don’t.

The only thing we do have is the ability to improve what we do and how well we do it.  I’ve always thought that sharing exactly what I do with other agents is a healthy way to do business.  It places ME a notch above them.  I’d rather be the leader than the follower.  I’d rather set the pace.

The one fact that I can assure you is that “no two agents will ever market identically.” No two agents think or act the same.  Never will one agent present an idea as another would. We all look, think and act differently.  We are all educated differently and have different financial capabilities.

Yes, I share it all, and there are many on this site who are working shoulder to shoulder with us in my marketplace. They are in real estate offices within walking distance from MINE. The fact that I clearly explain what I do every day is a head game to many of the other agents!!

I know they’re paying attention.  They reword slogans that I’ve created for those for whom I market.  It’s obvious to potential clients because they’ve commented on it.  The competition diluted their strength, single handedly!!!!

Sharing publicly is a bonus, in my opinion.  There are more positives that result than negatives, and I have never had a negative result from my posting to the public.  I’ve been contributing to this site since 2009, and those who posted years ago have fallen off the face of the Internet. No Two People Work Identically!!! Oh wait, I already said that didn’t I?

Just saying again…..
